The son of a Ford factory worker, DeLorean grew up on Detroit's east side during the country's worst Depression. Life wasn't easy but he managed to fight his way up. After developing and designing vehicles for Chrysler, Chevy, and Pontiac, DeLorean followed his dream of starting his own car company.
With over one hundred investors, including Johnny Carson and Sammy Davis Jr., invested into John Delorean's new auto company DMC, the first new automobile since the Tucker in the early 1950s.
Though DeLorean's company had a short life of seven years, he built an iconic car that has been immortalized in movies and his story is soon to be a part of the big screen as two biopics are in the works. He was a maverick, a risk taker, and had bold dreams. John DeLorean always went big.
In 2016 the DeLorean Motor Company was resurrected.
This amazing piece features this fascinating contract, dated July 16, 1976, between DMC and one of its partners. At the bottom of this document is the signature John Z. DeLorean, in DeLorean's own hand. Highlighting this agreement is one page from a two page ad from a 1981 car magazine that is titled "The DeLorean, Live the Dream." The second Page is included with the paperwork that accompanies this piece.
At the bottom, but centered, is one of DeLorean's inspirational quotes from the title of the magazine ad and also the title of John DeLorean's autobiography, "Live the Dream!"
