Hedy Lamarr Signed 1969 Appearance Contract Contract:
$3,200.00
-Hedy Lamarr
Hedy Lamarr was born in Vienna, Austria-Hungary and became an American star when she moved to the United States for her performance in Algiers in 1938. MGM Studios promoted her as the “World Most Beautiful Woman.” MGM kept her busy, doing film after film, but after becoming unhappy being typecast, Lamarr co-founded a new production studio to produce her own films to star in.
The incredible story that many don’t know about Hedy Lamarr is at the beginning of World War II, Lamarr invisioned and worked to develop, a radio guidance system for Allied torpedoes that would use frequency-hopping technology to defeat the threat of jamming. She also helped to improve aviation designs for Howard Hughes, and his military contracts, during the time that they dated. The US Navy didn’t adopt Lamarr’s invention until 1957 but today’s Bluetooth and WiFi technology was a direct result of Lamarr contributions.
Hedy Lamarr was given a Star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 1960 and most incredible this powerful thinker, who strived to be recognized for more than her beauty, was inducted into the National Inventors Hall of Fame in 2014.
This rare contract, dated August 18, 1969, is for her iconic appearance on The Merv Griffin Show. At the bottom left, she has hand signed, in blue ink pen, “Hedy Lamarr”.
We’ve also included this original vintage photo(not a copy) of Hedy Lamarr looking fierce and confident. Below both the photo and the contract is this inspiring quote and some insight into how Hedy lived her life.
“The biggest people with the biggest ideas, can be shot down by the smallest people with the smallest minds, think big anyway.”
