Marilyn Monroe, was born Norma Jeane Baker, June 1st 1926. She never knew her father and her mother suffered from a turbulent mental state and Marilyn was ultimately juggled between different orphanages and foster homes. This traumatic childhood made her shy and reserved.
When she was seventeen she took a job at a local munitions factory in Burbank, California and it was there she was discovered by Photographer David Conover. By 1952 Marilyn Monroe was well established as a Model, actress, singer, and arguably one of the most famous women of the twentieth century. Monroe has become an iconic representative of fame, female beauty, and marketing genius, and is widely regarded as one of most influential figures in American culture.
This unbelievable piece is her original contract extension, dated April 18, 1952, with Twentieth Century Fox. The only version known to exist. Marilyn has beautifully signed, in black steel tip fountain pen, on the established line, “Marilyn Monroe”, in her famous script signature.
Included with this remarkable piece is a copy photo, depicting Marilyn Monroe, looking ready to take on the world.
